Trilogy exists within a community – and no community in this country could be more supportive, generous, and big-hearted than Walla Walla. For nearly a decade the Juvenile Justice Center provided a home base for Trilogy to lead educational support groups with detention and probation youth. St. Patrick’s Church offered Trilogy space for both youth and parent support groups. Children’s Home Society gave us a room for our Family Support Group. In 2011 Providence St. Mary Medical Center provided a house, formerly used as for storage, to serve as home for Trilogy.
Dan Reid, general manager of Opp & Seibold Construction, Inc., organized twenty-four subcontractors who donated their time, equipment, materials, and manpower to renovate the house, along with the help of dozens of volunteers including youth from the Juvenile Justice Center “crew, AmeriCorps volunteers, and church groups. “Faith moves mountains.” Slowly but surely, with the power of community alongside us, we can “move the mountain” of stigma, shame, guilt, fear, and despair, offering help and hope to hundreds of young people and their family members. |
